Affiliate marketing means earning a commission when someone buys a product through your link. It only works over time if readers trust you, and trust comes from honesty. This is a practical way to start.
Start with problems, not products
Pick a topic where you can genuinely help, such as choosing a first camera, learning a language or setting up a home office. Write about the problem first. Products come second.
Use what you recommend
Reviews based on real use are more useful and more believable than reviews copied from product pages. If you have not used something, say so, and explain what you checked instead.
Compare fairly
Readers want to know which option suits which person. Include the downsides of every product, including the one that pays you the most. A review with no negatives looks like an advertisement.
Disclose clearly
Tell readers when a link is an affiliate link, and put the notice close to the link, in plain language. Many countries require clear disclosure of paid or commission-based endorsements, for example the US Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines, and most affiliate programmes and platforms require it too. Check the rules for the places you publish and the programmes you join.
Never promise results
Avoid claims like “this will make you rich” or exaggerated before-and-after stories. Stick to what the product does and what you saw.
Where AI helps, and where it does not
AI can help you plan topics, draft outlines and improve your wording. It cannot use the product for you, and it can state wrong facts with confidence. Check every claim and keep your own experience at the centre.
Keep content current
Prices, features and availability change. Review your best pages every few months and update or remove outdated recommendations.
Earnings vary widely and are never guaranteed. If you want a structured path, see the Affiliate Marketing course.
